Company description

Ecclesiastical Investment Management was established in 1887 to protect the Anglican Church. Over the years the company has grown to provide tailored insurance solutions, financial services and risk management solutions. The company is at the forefront of socially responsible ethical investments and launched one of the UK’s first retail ethical investment funds, the Amity fund, more than twenty years ago.

FundCalibre view

Historically, ethical investment funds have largely found it difficult against the unconstrained peer group, but Ecclesiastical bucks the trend. Both of its UK funds, Amity and UK growth, have outperformed the UK All Companies sector average over five years. Robin Hepworth, a highly regarded manager who has seen very strong outperformance in recent years, has found it more difficult in the global universe of stocks – with the Ecclesiastical Amity International fund underperforming the IMA Global sector average over five years.
