For most companies, cashflow is reflected in dividend policy. So we invest in companies where dividend and dividend progression are important drivers of valuation.

The Investment Process

The managers seek undervalued companies that are able to generate a high degree of surplus cash. This cash can be returned to shareholders, providing an income or re-invested back into the business. The team therefore focus their analysis on whether companies use their cash wisely. 20% of the fund can be invested in overseas shares.

Risk

The fund has been a little less risky than the UK stock market, reflecting the characteristics of the underlying portfolio. This makes it harder for the fund to outperform in strong market conditions.

Our Opinion

Artemis Income is undoubtedly one of the leading funds in the Equity Income sector; benefiting from an excellent team, a strong process and an outstanding, long-term track record. In addition, the overseas exposure provides extra opportunities for additional returns.
