Polar Capital Healthcare Opportunities may not have been one of the most viewed funds, but you would have been wise to have taken a look. The portfolio returned more than any other Elite Rated fund during the last quarter.
The Global and North American sectors were both very well represented, boasting 3 funds each. The success of the American funds came following strong economic performance in the region, assisted by the skill of the managers. Schroder US Mid Cap was the best of the bunch.
The only UK fund to make the cut was Jupiter UK Growth, run by long-term manager Steve Davies, which returned a very healthy 8.53% from October to December.
Please note that many of our Elite Rated funds use different benchmarks against which they measure their performance. The list above features the ten funds that generated the gross highest returns, not necessarily those which outperformed their sectors by the greatest amount.

Fundsmith Equity comes in at number two again, this time just below Henderson UK Property. Its strong position is no surprise. Terry has been doing an excellent job at the helm and is a genuine star within the industry. The fund is also one of the six to have gained an Elite Rating during the last quarter.

UK funds in general were a lot better represented in terms of page views than they were when it came to pure performance. In fact, Henderson UK Property tops the bill. Marcus Langlands-Pearse and Ainslie McLennan run this large and well-known bricks and mortar fund, which boasts one of the highest occupancy rates in the property sector.
