Equities remain the best selling asset class
According to figures released by the Investment Association today, equities remain the best selling asset class amongst retail fund investors for the fifth consecutive month in September. Mixed Asset funds were second, followed by Targeted Absolute Return and then Property funds, whilst Fixed Income funds suffered the heaviest withdrawals.
Looking at the data in more detail, UK equity funds were the most popular, with European equity funds second and global third. Asian equity funds, on the other hand, continue to see money taken away from them.
Visits to the FundCalibre website in September showed a similar story, with equity funds pages attracting more than half of the views, followed by Multi Asset and Property funds. Within equities, UK funds were also the most popular, followed by European equity funds then Global equity funds.
However, visits to FundCalibre in October suggest a change in investor sentiment. Whilst equity funds were still the most visited, Fixed Income funds moved up into second place, with Strategic Bond funds in particular gaining a lot more attention. Multi Asset and Targeted Absolute Return funds came in joint third.
