James Douglas, co-manager of Polar Capital Global Healthcare Trust, talks to us about how the healthcare sector is responding to the coronavirus crisis. From short-term needs such as tests, ventilators and vaccines, through to longer term investment in our global healthcare infrastructure and the way we access services, the implications are significant – even the promises made in the US election could be changing.
Polar Capital Global Healthcare Trust invests in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology and healthcare services companies all over the globe. It has a growth bucket and an innovation bucket with a circa 90/10 split. The former is made up of predominantly larger companies, whereas the innovation pot will invest into medium and smaller companies that are typically disrupters of conventional medical practices.
