82. Why infrastructure is a bright spot for income and green energy
In some good news for income investors, Will Argent, investment advisor for the VT Gravis UK Infrastructure Income fund, tells us that dividends in the sector are holding up very well. He also tells us how infrastructure investment will play an important role in the post-crisis economic recovery, discusses the possible ‘cash for clunkers’ initiative to encourage us to buy electric vehicles, and explains why the UK has the largest offshore wind industry in the world.
VT Gravis UK Infrastructure Income invests mainly in investment trusts exposed to different types of UK infrastructure; from railways and roads to GP surgeries and solar power. It has an income target of 5% per annum, which will be attractive to income investors at a time when generating a decent level of income has become even more challenging. It also offers investors some protection against rising inflation. The fund can invest in infrastructure debt, as well as equities.
