What might shift sentiment towards UK smaller companies?

Paul Marriage, manager of the TM Tellworth UK Smaller Companies fund, gives his thoughts on what could bring investors back to UK smaller companies, including what a UK ISA could mean for the sector.

I think we saw a bit of it in December. In December, we saw people just coming back and saying, these stocks are are just too cheap, so a bit of sentiment change there. A lot of last year people were talking about some sorts of government intervention to encourage people to buy UK equities; [that] didn’t come. [We have a] UK election this year, both sides have talked about stimulating UK investment. We’ve heard about the UK ISA a bit more, so that could make a change, but I think it’s actually just the valuation piece; that’s a big enough trigger for people now.
