Why this report matters for investors

In today’s volatile markets, identifying the best funds to invest in requires more than chasing short-term returns. Factors like macroeconomic uncertainty, sector rotations, and style shifts demand a disciplined approach to fund selection.

The 2025 Fund Performance Report evaluates over 100 Elite Rated funds, each managed by individuals with at least a 10-year manager track record.

  • All funds were assessed using net-of-fee returns, making results relevant to real investors.
  • Performance was measured against its respective IA sector, providing clear comparisons across the industry.
  • Every fund passed our proprietary AlphaQuest tool prior to rating.

These funds were not selected based on short-term trends, but rather on consistent performance, skill, and repeatable processes.

What the report covers:

  • Performance of each Elite Rated fund over 1, 3, 5 and 10 years
  • Total returns vs IA sector averages
  • Volatility data to help investors evaluate consistency
  • Expert commentary on funds that underperformed over 10 years — and the reasons behind it

If you are looking for the best funds to invest in that demonstrate long-term value and robust processes, this report is an essential resource.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

1. What qualifies as the “best funds to invest in”?

We believe the best funds to invest in are those that combine consistent long-term performance, skilled management and a repeatable investment process. FundCalibre’s Elite Rated funds are selected based on these rigorous criteria.

2. How are funds selected for FundCalibre’s Elite Rating?

Funds receive FundCalibre’s Elite Rating through a rigorous three-step process: first, they must pass AlphaQuest, a quantitative screen assessing risk-adjusted returns and the probability of future outperformance. Next, the manager undergoes a face-to-face interview to evaluate their investment philosophy, process, and team. Finally, the fund must gain approval from FundCalibre’s investment committee. Only the top 10% of funds in each sector are awarded the Elite Rating, ensuring exclusivity and high manager skill.

3. Is this report suitable for beginner investors?

Yes. The report provides clear, data-backed insights ideal for both novice and experienced investors seeking the best funds to invest in with a long-term perspective.

4. Are passive funds included in the report?

No. The report focuses exclusively on actively managed funds where FundCalibre’s research team has verified the manager’s skill and process consistency. FundCalibre is all about active management and identifying fund managers who can deliver alpha through skill and expertise. Passive funds, by design, simply track an index and do not involve any active decision-making or skill in stock selection. They are a completely different type of investment, which is why they are not included in this report.

5. How often is the Fund Performance Report updated?

The Fund Performance Report is published annually to provide an up-to-date assessment of fund performance across different market cycles.
